THERMOGARD™ WHITE POLYIMIDE LABEL STOCK
Technical Data Sheet
POLYONICS, INC.
POLYONICS XF-546 THERMAL TRANSFER PRINTABLE WHITE POLYIMIDE LABEL STOCK

Description: Polyonics XF-546 is a polyimide label material with a Permanent Pressure Sensitive Silicone Adhesive and a high opacity, medium gloss white topcoat specifically designed for thermal transfer printing.

Polyimide labels made from Polyonics XF-546 polyimide label material is designed for barcode or alphanumeric identification of printed circuit boards, or related electronic components. It is the ideal label to withstand mixed circuit board processes, on either the top or bottom side of the board. It has been successfully used in the glass and metal forming industries where hightemperatures are experienced.

XF 546 polyimide label materials withstand temperatures of 700°F for several hours (over 800 °F for 8 hours, under a nitrogen atmosphere atmosphere). XF 546 polyimide labels give the highest temperature resistance available in synthetic film label materials.
It has excellent resistance to harsh fluxes, cleaners, saponifiers, and wave solder environments, and resists all commonly employed methods of cleaning. XF 546 polyimide labels are one of several polyimide label materials available.

When used with the proper ribbon, XF 546 polyimide labels pass MIL-STD-202F method 215J. The printed polyimide label resists smearing, even when the board and label are directly removed from a reflow or wave solder environment.

Colored versions of XF-546 polyimide label material are available.

The choice of thermal transfer printer can make a real difference as well on the overall polyimide label performance. Our materials can be used with most industrial thermal transfer printers, such as Zebra, Intermec, Sato, Printronix, NEC, Datamax, and Brady label printers, for harsh environment bar code label printing with a wide variety of thermal transfer ribbons.

XF-546 polyimide labels are also suitable for use in ISO clean-room applications, when used with a film liner instead of a paper liner. Contact Clean Room Polyimide Labels for further information.

Environmental Tests

Customer expectations, supported by our laboratory data clearly show that XF 546 polyimide label material can be stored for at least one year in an environment below 80 degrees F and 60% RH . We are confident that our product will perform well beyond this time frame. However, it remains the responsibility of the user to assess the risk of using such product. We encourage customers to
develop functional testing protocols that will qualify a product's fitness for use, in their actual applications.

**INK RIBBONS DISCLAIMER NOTE

Polyonics, Inc. does not endorse ribbons from specific ribbon companies. Our recommendations are based solely on the manufacturers testing methods and procedures and are subject to revision without further notice.

American Printing Converters' goal is to achieve total customer satisfaction, and we offer a 100% guarantee on all our bar code thermal transfer ribbon products.
